The Day at Sandfield
The School Day
Morning session: 8:45am to 12.15pm
Afternoon session: 1.15pm to 3.15pm
All children come in through the York Road pedestrian entrance and the school gates open at 8.35am. The children may be left in the playground under the supervision of staff until they go into class at 8.45am for registration. Parents may wait with their children in the playground until 8.45am if they wish. The school gates close at 8.50am and any child arriving after this time will be considered as late.
Morning Break: 10.15am to 10.30am
Lunch break: 12.15pm to 1.15pm
At the end of the afternoon session, lessons finish at 3.15pm, parents are to come to the playground to collect their child from the class teacher. For health and safety reasons older children in the school are not permitted to collect younger siblings. The school recognises that unforeseen events may delay parents in the collection of children; in any such cases, please telephone the school as soon as possible to alert staff to the delay so that the child can be reassured and supervised.
Teachers are available to talk briefly and informally with parents/carers when children depart from school.
The school seeks to inform parents of children’s progress through termly parent and teacher meetings and an annual report.
There is a class message book situated in the office to use if you child is going home with another adult. This book must be completed for any occasion when your child is not being collected by their usual parent or carer.
