Meet the Playground Pals

Our Playground Pals play an important part in creating a safe, friendly, happy and peaceful atmosphere for other children during lunchtimes and playtimes.

Who are they?

Children in Key Stage Two take on the role of Playground Pal and work with a senior leader to make our playground a happy place. The children enjoy their responsibilities and make the playground a happy place for others. These children are visible to the rest of the children through the use of hats and arm bands.

A Playground Pal’s Role

  • To help all children to learn how to play cooperatively with each other
  • To help children resolve minor conflicts
  • Teach children to play a wider range of games
  • Help lonely children make more friends
  • Be available as a friend to all the other children

Our Playground Pals have had training about what’s fair and unfair, safe and unsafe and dealing with different situations.

They have also learnt some new games to teach and play with others. This has helped children to engage more with children of different ages.
