Come and see what we have been up to in Year 3
#dropdirtypalmoil - we have started to receive replies!
After sending Year 3's brilliant video messages to the companies Greenpeace identified as not keeping their promises on reducing or eradicating the use of palm oil in their products, we have had an email response from Mondelez International:
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
Mondelez International is committed to eradicating deforestation in the palm oil supply and we are actively working with our suppliers to ensure palm oil is fully traceable. We have actionable steps in place to make certain that the palm oil we buy is produced on legally held land, does not lead to deforestation or loss of peat land, respects human rights, and does not use forced or child labour.

Consumer Care Team
It's fantastic that the children will be able to see that they can work together to make an impact. We will now wait for responses from Pepsi, Ikea, Danone, Colgate-Palmolive and Procter & Gamble. Thank you for your support, we have heard many of you now have palm oil free homes thanks to the children!
Inspired by the Greenpeace TV advert, 'There's An Orangutan In My Bedroom' Year 3 and 4 have written letters to companies such as Pepsi, Ikea and Colgate who have not kept their promise to cut links to companies using palm oil in their products. We then used Adobe Spark Video to create video messages to send to these companies. The children then saved their videos to See-Saw and you can now see them in our class blog by following the link below. They are rightfully very proud of themselves! We will be sending the video messages to the companies very soon, hoping for a response, so that the children can see they can have a voice and have an impact on the world:
Our Magic Spells are complete!
We are so very proud of the children in Year 3 who have worked extremely hard to create their finished magic spells. The vocabulary they have been able to use, the pitch, pace, power, use of punctuation, use of pauses, and passion that they have worked on should now be evident in their performances which you can see by following the link below:
Sandfield Battle Cries!
The battle cries have begun in Year 3 and 4. See below for just one of the many inspirational warrior speeches being produced. The children have worked so hard and it's been fantastic to see so many of them have the courage to perform as it really helps them along their journey to a greater sense of self-belief.
